In June, the Consell of Ibiza hosted the first training session of the GENERA project. This initiative aims to support municipalities on the Pityusic Islands in developing Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans and defining energy transition roadmaps for tourist regions.
The training event was attended by environmental technicians from Sant Antoni, Sant Josep, Eivissa, and the Consell, along with the local GENERA partner, Global Mediterraneo. The successful session was led by project coordinator Prof. Elisa Peñalvo-López and research engineer Clara Andrada Monrós from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
1st Great Celebration for the Environment
A successful action called “1st Great Celebration for the Environment” was co-organized on the 5th of June 2024, in the context of the World Environment Day by the Region of South Aegean, the READ S.A, the Municipality of Rhodes, the Fo.D.S.A of South Aegean and the The Rhodes Co-lab.
In this context, the organisers came into contact with the fourth- grade students of all primary schools of the island of Rhodes, their teachers and guardians to raise awareness about the theme of recycling, energy transition and circular economy.
Brochures of the GENERA project were given to the participants with the QR code of the social game, along with information relating to the project’s aims and expected outcomes.
These events are fundamental to engage citizens of all ages into our activities as their contribution will prove to be extremely valuable.
Presentation of GENERA by READ SA
On Friday 31st of May 2024, the GENERA project was presented by Development Agency of South Aegean Region -READ S.A. during an event dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the co-financed projects of the South Aegean Region.
The event, which took place in the beatiful city of Rhodes, saw the participation of the representatives from the Hoteliers’ Association, the Technical Chamber (Dodecanese Branch), the Association of Tourist Agents of Dodecanese, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Municipality of Rhodes, EKETA – IMET, the Region of the South Aegean, KEK Gennimatas, the Development Company of the Region – ENERGY SA, and the K2 Regional Development Organization.
In this occasion, the participants shared their ideas and know-how, contributing substancially to the goals of the projects.
Constant and proactive dialogue with stakeholders is one of GENERA’s intended outcomes to ensure best-practice exchange and continuous co-creation of solutions to current challenges.
